Maratona X100 em Castelo Branco / X100 Marathon

Boas pedaladas,

Pedaladas boas,
casf

English:

Good cycling,

A warm day was arriving with a great event.

Different classes were separated in boxes. Compensated the small delay, I take time talking with some friends and others, that usually I do on the events.

The first 20km of the track, till the 1st Supply Zone I already knew it from another "chronicle", on that time the small rivers ran higher, today, with the heat, every passing by was seen by me as REFRESHING, I can say it!

The GPS graphics informed; successive rises and falls, since the beginning I put my conversations in order with other "raiders", someone who went for the X100 and we went only in the 15km, I told him without a Odometer I lose my "North", further I spoke with Pinto Infante about Canyon LUX MR9.0 SL machine, that both we tooked for this event (to make a technical report later).

It was after the road that we pass throw, near Martin Branco, that I saw and rescued a colleague. The fall the suffered I helped him but he was taken to the Castelo Branco Hospital to be sutured in the leg, on falling bad a twig pierced his leg, I was glad to hear from the mouth of himself, at lunchtime, that everything just went well on the hospital, were was assisted by the wife, nurse, from João Valente who also stopped to help him, immediately applying their medical knowledge.

Climbs were succeeding and after passing the tracks selection, X100 or X50, I had drunk more than 1.5 L of water and started recorded several bites on energy bars, that, because reduced the units of insulin to half, on breakfast, was not enough, given the involved effort.

The 1st "wall" I had to resort to a refined technique was on the pines trees, with more than 30km passing, where the cones and the "needles" were hindering any wheel slip progression.

The 2nd Supply Zone by the 40km... I repeat the meal from the 1st ZA, oranges and bananas, followed by a dry cake with lots and lots of water. Up ahead, something shattered, fustigating, had the premium technical area, before, there was an indication, DANGEROUS DESCENT, write on a bigger board and red lettered.

20 to 30 meters, I think there weren't more but the slope of the descent was very high. I got up well but at some point I wanted to leave, I feared one fall, certainly for sure, my shorts held the seat but in the confusion, with me screaming, I WILL FALL! Was already at the bottom of the descent, where the organization warned for passing the water line ahead. Done by hand, such was the fright!

After the adrenaline rush of the descent were followed by further rises, was that what was breaking the body, first on the National Route, turn right one more track but on a hillside where the final part,  with the effort, I had to pushing the bike by and.

After 50 km of slopes I wasn't hang on with fruit, cakes and energy bars, offered by the organization, the sensation of low blood sugar - hypo - together with a body fatigue rather high, always well hydrated, I eat a chocolate cookie, with the heat it brakes, falling half directly to the ground instead of one more appropriate location at the time, my belly!

My last bites on energy bars and already counting down for the finished I stopped with cramping sheer due to weakness and lack of training, my friend Rui from MTB Castelo Branco blog (http://bttcastelobranco.blogspot.com/), came to "pick me up" I was stretched my muscles, we helped each other for the X50 final, X67 for me.

A really hard track, the body with the lack of training it turns vulnerable to successive inclinations. I hope to repeat next year! Thanks to everyone who rode with me.

Rides good,
casf
