I Maratona Nós e a Natureza

Boas pedaladas,

Cheguei a meta pelas 13:01:00h.
Pedaladas boas,
casf

Good cycling,

Even with a birthday party, the night before, the morning I had no symptoms of "hangover", the fasting blood glucose was 91mg/dL. Perfect, the normal reduction of basal and less fast insulin, I went to Vila Velha de Rodão, remembering another event in the same village.

Around 100 athletes attended to a beautiful day for mountain biking. A fast start, particularly marked by tracks with plenty of stones, were to rip tires, suspensions relativities, the quality of the handles, for me, give me a discomfort with some pain on my fists and arms... A long time I hadn't a race like this, so fast on the beginning, I had to slow down at 15 km, otherwise, it would be a painful ending and therefore a hypo before the 1st supply.

Some descents, full of stones, with some rain gaps from passed rainfalls, they hurt and do pain by the hands - palms and fingers - on a water point, the organization car came over to support an athlete, whose shoulder followed the way to the hospital, apparently, it was ok, just the pain from the fall, to heal in the coming days...

We climbed to Sarrasqueira where was the 1st supply, 152mg/dL from cycling relaxation, a caloric wafer together with VITARGO concentration. I cosiness one Borrachão (typical dry cake), an orange, passion fruit juice with plenty of water and I brought a banana.

Tracks separation was after 25km, who made the 60km need to climb to Atalaia village. A "pretty uphill", being light I have some easiness, alone, the pace was partially "imposed by the GPS clock"... I went through some dams and a photographer, I noticed that he took me a picture on a technical spot, seemed to be lost in the middle of nowhere...

This section has been covered for fewer athletes, then I noticed the lack of some signaling tapes, sometimes staring at the floor, doubts arose whether it was the right track, but locations with crossings roads, it was perfect.
During approximately 20km I only ate the banana, always hydrating with Vitargo. I had a sense of baling. On Cerejal I found in the 2nd supply, even to lubricate the chain we had oil. I redid my VITARGO ELECTROLYTE, a glass of juice with a cheese sandwich and lots of water.

Another athlete who leave a little before me, I caught him on a hill, one of several that followed this supply; had tar by land, national highway, and we ended up in the worst way, quite irregular loose stones... I stopped in the middle, enlarged my legs, I drink too - with these stones, should be both hands on the wheel - and I took some pictures, in sequential shooting mode, anything can happen! I think I got "Portas de Rodão" - Rodão Doors, one of business cards from Beira Baixa Portugal region.
I had interest in my clock reading, wanted to beat a personal record and this was the right event to do it, rolling. I reached the finish line at 1:01:00pm.
I measure my blood glucose, after bath and VITARGO PROTEIN taken. 141mg/dL.

Cylcing good,
casf
